Age of Sigmar AoS Conversion to 40K Lord Relictor - WIP

$

0
Well, when the AoS miniatures dropped and one was called a Lord Relictor, I just had to have one to put into my 40K Relictors Space Marine Battle Company.  So far I have done a lower leg and a whole leg swap to make it 40K and Terminator-esque, the model is already Terminator sized so it was making the jump from AoS to 40K using the distinctive Terminator leg greaves. I have also added a power haft to the Thunderhammer, a simple cut and shunt of the original bits.
The banner can either be just a reliquary befitting the Lord of the Relictors or the Banner of the Emperor Ascendant for gaming purposes if he is used as a Chapter Master, or maybe with the skull helm, I did think a Chaplain, but I already have a Terminator Chaplain so the Chapter Master won out. I've swapped a few trinkets for a Termie Cross and an Imperial Aquila, next up is the fiddly fitting a Crux Terminus to the Shoulder Pauldron and adding a few skulls in place of Sigmar hammers. And then maybe a Storm Shield to make him more survivable? Perhaps The Shield Eternal? The Thunder Hammer replaces his standard issue StormBolter. The Banner or Shield replaces the standard Power Sword.

Terrain and Scenery - Shrine of the Aquila 1 - 6MMRPC

Welcome to our humble corner of the blogosphere, here is my latest offering to the terrain gods, a sizeable Shrine of the Aquila. A great thematic terrain piece and in these days of D Weapon toting Wraithknights and Imperial Knights, a good line of sight blocker and cover.
The main colour was a GW Zandri Dust spray, washed with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed with Ushabti Bone. The walkways were drybrushed with Leadbelcher and a few small details done.
The piles of rubble were simply off cuts from sprue, chopped up with cutters, and the base was my usual 3mm hardboard, cut with a jigsaw and sanded edges. This was painted Calthan Brown (the large pot of brown in the GW Scenery Pack) and drybrushed Kommando Khaki and Ushabti Bone.
I thought I'd add a little spot colour with the lamppost and lamps. A simple blue with black centre and a white point to resemble glass, hopefully it does the job nicely.

Another one is on the way, to make a big centre piece terrain. Thanks for dropping by, and more more ideas, check out the Terrain Label in the side bar or HEREAnd another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers, Siph.

Hello again dear readers, thanks for dropping by. Here is my second Shrine of the Aquila, to match the other one posted a few days ago. This one was painted in conjunction with the other one, so the colours match and the final piece is the same.
This corner ruins is part of the Honoured Imperium scenery set, along with the Ruined Aquila and the Statue of a SM Hero. This bit had been waiting for quite some time to be used, and with the Shrine of the Aquila details, now was the perfect time.
Again, I've added spot colour with the lamps, and doorway. The gold was Brazen Brass, Shining Gold and a Runefang Steel drybrush.
Next up will be both together, a great centre piece terrain feature. Thanks for dropping by, please check out the link HERE for more terrain ideas or the Terrain label in the sidebar. And another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers, Siph.

Welcome Readers, thanks for dropping in. Following up from the previous two Shrine of the Aquila posts, I thought I'd show off the finished article together, shows the grandeur of the piece, made from two of the GW Shrine of Aquila sets and a bit from the Honoured Imperium scenery set too.
This is a massive terrain piece and can be a great objective in a game of 40K, nothing better for a stirring defence piece, or as line-of-sight blocking terrain for the Titans and Knights we are lucky enough to have.
Thanks for dropping in and having a look, feel free to check out all the terrain posts, here TERRAINAnd another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers.

BatRep Legio Astorum Titans Vs Imperial Knights - 4890pts - Charge the Guns Gauntlet

$

+++ Seven enemy constructs located approaching the Titan force on attack vectors. Second wave of five constructs detected. Reactor at maximum output. Powered up voids. Legio Astorum will walk +++

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by, so Lord Halfpenny and myself fancied another smash up with the big boy toys, and a Reaver plus two Warhounds would be the points level, with which Lord Halfpenny could field 7 Imperial Knights and a Vindicare Assassin. Its a long post, but feel free to scroll through the pictures, everyone loves Titans and Knights and they are on my new Gamemat with recently completed terrain too. Enjoy.
The Imperial Knights stole the initiative and deployed as far forward as they could to bring the CC 'D-weapons' to bear.Lord Halfpenny bought along a Cerastus Knight Lancer as his Warlord, a Cerastus Knight Castigator, a Cerastus Knight Acheron, 2x Paladins, one with a Missile Pod and one Warden and one Errant.
Legio Astorum once again fielded the mighty Reaver Honorum, Warhound Canis Bellum and Warhound Canis Praetor, this was a long range 'charge the guns' for the Imperial Knights, so the Legio set up on the base line for maximum fire-effect.
IK Turn 1 - The Knights all steamed forward, the Cerastus Knight Lancer and Acheron ran their 3D6 as they are designed for CC and closing the enemy fast.
The Knights stripped both voids off Canis Bellum and one from Reaver Honorum and both voids from Canis Praetor but failed to damage any of the titans.
Legio Turn 1 - Calculating the biggest threats were the closing Cerastus Knight Lancer and Acheron (the last Smash Up, the Acheron felled the noble Honorum) all guns concentrated on these two. Canis Bellum opened up with the Vulcan Mega Bolter and rapid fire Plasma Blastgun into the side of the Lancer stripping 2HPs, Honorum's Gatling Blaster and Laser Blaster ripped apart the Lancer and damaged the Acheron leaving it on 2HPs.
Warhound Canis Praetor opened fire with one twin Turbo Laser destroying the Cerastus Knight Acheron! The second arm fired at the other two Knights closing on the right flank, stripping 2HPs from the red Knight Paladin. Finally Honorum fired the Apoc Missile Launcher at the tightly packed group of Knights on the left flank and hit all three stripping a hull point or two. After the turn, the Titans regenerated both voids on Canis Bellum and one on Canis Praetor, Reaver Honorum remained on 3 voids.
IK Turn 2 - After a bruising first turn, the Knights closed on their prey. The Knight Warden and red Paladin closed on the left flank,
The red Paladin stripped the remain void from Canis Praetor and took 1HP. The Warden opened up with the rending Avenger Gatling Cannon but failed to penetrate the titan's thick armour and missed the melta gun shot. The Warden needed a 12in charge but failed and rolled an 8. The Vindicare shot the Reaver stripping another void.
The Castigator, Errant and green Paladin stripped Canis Bellum's voids and 1HP leaving him on 8HPs.
The Imperial Knights advance.
Legio Turn 2 -  Canis Bellum opened up with the Vulcan Mega Bolter and Plasma Blastgun managing to strip 2HPs from the Castigator. Honorum with 2 voids and full HPs launched another Apoc Missile barrage at the three approaching Knights striking all three and leaving the Errant on 2HPs, Paladin untouched and Castigator on 4HPs. Honorum then let rip with the Laser Blaster and Gatling Blaster wiping out the Castigator! Boom.
Titans view.
Canis Praetor backed away from the Warden and opened up with the Turbo Lasers stripping 5HPs from the Warden, leaving the two approaching Knights on 4HPs and 1HP. The Titans then regenerated one void on the Reaver (18HPs 3V) and one on Canis Bellum (8HPs 1V), leaving Canis Praetor 8HPs and 1 void.

IK Turn 3 - No photo as it was getting just to darn exciting (!) but the Knights continued to close, running the guns, Knight Errant and green Paladin stripped Canis Bellum's void and another 2HPs leaving him on 6HPs. The red Paladin and Warden hit Canis Praetor stripping his remaining void and another HP, leaving him on 7HPs. The Warden failed another 12in charge.
Legio Turn 3 - Honorum see's the predicament of Canis Praetor backed into the corner and opens up with the Apoc Launcher in support striking the Warden 5 times wiping him out, and stripping hull points from the red Paladin leaving him on 1HP Canis Praetor now free to concentrate on the red Paladin opens fire with the Turbo Laser wiping him out too.

The left arm of Canis Praetor and the Laser Blaster of Honorum combine fire onto the as yet untouched green Paladin leaving him on only 1HP! Canis Bellum sensing the enemy wavering concentrates his Plasma Blastgun on overload and wipes out the green Paladin, leaving just the approaching Errant on 2HPs.
IK Turn 4 - The Errant shoots Canis Bellum stripping his voids and charges into combat destroying the mighty Warhound, but the fates are not with the IK force today, the ensuing Apoc Explosion rips into the Knight as Canis Bellum falls forward crushing his nemesis underneath, destroying him! Revenge!
Legio Turn 4 - All that is left to do is destroy the Assassin lurking in the Shrine of the Aquila ruins, 7 D-Weapon shots will do that! Boom!

A great game for the Legio Astorum, it was a challenging run the gauntlet of big guns for the Knights, but once in charge range, those CC D-weapons are devastating. Next up the surviving Legio will face up against the second wave of 5 Knights, but from across the short table length... who will win the Broadside exchange and close in for close quarters combat??... next post coming soon...

LH- Wow- what a game! as soon as I saw the deployment I knew it was going to be tough to get into combat- the hope was that 2 of the knights could have survived and got close to mount a charge- however my dice rolling was pretty poor for saves with the ion shield- shooty D weapons are a pain, especially with a large Blast- as unless you roll a miss, and very high, you are still going to clip them, and get a hit. I suppose it was the good think about 5th ed (I think) where the hole of the blast had to be over the model for a direct hit.. lets see what happens in the Broadside Battle..
Thanks for reading this far! Siph and Lord Halfpenny.

Batrep Imperial Knights Vs Legio Astorum - 2170pts - Brutal Broadside Smash-Up

$

+++ Proximity Alert. Enemy Cerastus Knight Lancer Assault. Critical Damage Imminent +++

Hello Readers, hopefully you enjoyed the last batrep with Legio Astorum triumphing over the Imperial Knights running the long gauntlet of big guns. So we tried another smaller battle, across the shorter table length and using one Reaver and Warhound Vs 5 Knights and a Vindicare Assassin to make up the points. This time it will be a Broadside Exchange, bloody, short ranged and brutal.

First Turn was won by the Legio which was great news, it will be a quick bloody encounter once the Knights close in on the Titans and kill them in close quarters combat! The Titans will need all the chances they can get to fire on the approaching Knights.
Legio Turn 1 - Canis Praetor opens fire on the three standard Knights with his Turbo Lasers and completely annihilates the red Paladin! In the ensuing apoc explosion, the red Paladin falls backward onto the Knight Warden and the centre of the blast being 'D' strength rips through the Warden destroying him too! Wow! What an opener, Canis Praetor with one salvo reduces his threat forward to a single Knight Paladin, down from three! (LH- We forgot to roll the 'scatter' of the second destroyed Knight- With Siph's luck he would have scattered into the 3th knight..) Elsewhere, Reaver Honorum is facing the Cerastus Knight Acheron and Cerastus Knight Lancer, opening fire with all weapons only manages to take 1HP off the Lancer, the Ion Shield taking the brunt of the Reaver attacks...
A great turn one for the Legio, really reducing the IK hunters to the hunted!
IK Turn 1 - In reply, the lone Paladin advances forward towards Canis Praetor, opening fire with the Missile Pod taking out one void from the Warhound, but the battlecannons fail to take down the other shield.. The Vindicare in the tallest ruins fails to hit the Reaver even with a re-rolled BS8 (needing a two or re-roll of 4) - common theme with this particular model, in a previous battle he failed to hit the Lord of Skulls at point blank range!
Both Cerastus Knights run toward the Reaver to get into combat as quick as possible and force the Reaver to fire dangerously close to itself if it wants to defend itself - one bad scatter and it could be disastrous.
Legio Turn 2 - Honorum is forced to point blank fire at the Acheron to avoid being cut to pieces by the Chainfist like a previous battle, in the urgent manoeuvring and defence, Honourum's targetting Moderatii fire the Laser Blaster point blank into the Cerastus Knight Acheron obliterating it but also doing severe damage to itself across the Head module and causing 10HP destroyer hit to itself! Ouch! Reducing the Reaver to 8HPs.
Elsewhere, Canis Praetor aims at the lone Paladin and easily destroys it in a flurry of 'D' hits, freeing the Warhound to come to the aid of the ailing Reaver.
IK Turn 2 - Finally getting into CC, the Knight Lancer Shock Lanced the Reaver voids before getting into combat, hitting Honorum three times with the 'D' Lance, stripping a potential 17HPs, stripping the 8HPs and the mighty Reaver is destroyed! The Vindicare Assassin hits the voids of Canis Praetor but fails to penetrate.
Legio Turn 3 - Canis Praetor vs the Lancer, opens fire on the Lancer but strikes the Ion Gauntlet Shield, failing to do any damage.

IK Turn 3 - The Cerastus Knight Lancer closes on the Warhound, The Vindicare hits the void shield but again fails to collapse the shield.
Legio Turn 4 - Canis Praetor backs off and opens up with the Laser Blasters again, this time hitting with two Destroyer hits and two other hits causing 27HPs worth of damage against the Knight, wiping it out.

IK Turn 4 - sensing his imminent destruction, the Assassin fled the field, victory to the Legio!

Wow! The first turn was the decisive turn, and if we rolled for scatter for the second destroyed Knight, may have even caused more damage! It was a mortal blow for the Knights force, nullifying the threat on the right side and freeing up Canis Praetor to defend himself from the inevitable approach of at least one Cerastus Knight once they dealt with Honorum. The Reaver died as expected, but managed to take out the Acheron (and mortally wound himself 10HPs) which helped Canis Praetor in the next stage too. The Titan did more harm to itself than the Imperial Knight force did, such is the power of a triple shot 'D' Weapon to the face!

I thought the battle was going to be a one sided affair with the Knights ripping into the Titans, after the long 'charge the guns' scenario of the previous battle, this was going to be the Knights turn to earn some honour markings, but unfortunately for Lord Halfpenny, the Legio Astorum was in no mood to lay down quietly!

Great day of battling, showing that when Knights think they are the big fish of 40K, there is always a bigger fish in the pond to bring them down a peg or two ;)

Another great, if frustrating battle! I had hoped that the Knights could have got into combat with only the loss of 1 or 2 knights, however the smash up with turn 1 resulted in the lose of 2 knights, and really from there it was going to be tough to get into combat with HP's remaining. The moment of the match was seeing the Reaver getting hit with friendly fire- which ultimately lead to his destruction by the Lancer. Following the battle it is with sadness that the Vindicare Assassin is going to hang up his guns with retirement- following so many misses!

Hope you enjoyed this short and sweet battle report, it was great fun re-living the smash-up! In your face Imperial Knights! Cheers for reading, Siph and Lord Halfpenny.

Chaos Daemons of Khorne - Bloodletters for Summoning - 6MMRPC

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. Something a little different, after painting two Shrine of the Aquila and lots of Relictors recently, I thought I'd address the balance of good and evil, and paint up some minions of the dark gods, okay these will be put to good use by the forces of the Emperor via Relictor Librarian summoning, but don't tell the Chaos Gods...

It was nice painting something organic and bright coloured for a change, the skin was Khorne Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet and Blazing Orange with a wash of Baal Red and blazing orange re-touched to brighten the lumps and bumps. The blades were simply Leadbelcher and Runefang Steel with a Nuln Oil wash and some Blood for the Blood Gods technical paint on most blades! Of course! The horns were basecoated Scorched Brown, then progressively toward the tip layered Graveyard Earth, Kommando Khaki and Ushabti Bone. The tongues were Hormagaunt Purple and a Leviathan Purple wash and then 'Ardcoated for a gloss finish.
The back view shows the nice bone graduated effect, and the same on the horns and crests. The bases are the same recipe I always use, Calthan Brown, drybrushed Kommando Khaki and Ushabti Bone. Just seen that I haven't added my patches of burnt grass flock... darn. Will address that shortly.
That's all folks, thanks for dropping in, hope you like what you see. And another bit done during my 6 month mountain reducing painting challenge (6MMRPC). Cheers.

Terrain and Scenery - Aegis Defence Line Terrain Pieces

Back in 2011, I completed one section of the scatter terrain Aegis Defence Line, but soon moved on to other pieces and miniatures, but fear not I've finally done these little terrain pieces to scatter around the battlefield. I don't use an Aegis Defence Line in the game, as hiding behind a line is cowardly ;) so these can be based on my usual 3mm Hardboard (FibreBoard).
This uses a shattered tree from the GW Battlefield Scenery piece, the tree is Khemri Brown, washed with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Zandri Dust and burnt bits Abaddon Black. The vox caster is from the Imperial Guard Cadian squad.
This piece has a smashed Chaos Bike wheel and as a nod to 6thDegree's Iron Warriors, I painted it to match.
And here is all three on the GameMat surface, looking quite good I reckon. These were quick and simple (once I could be bothered to finish them!!)

More Weemen terrain ideas can be found HERE. Thanks for stopping by.

Back in 2011 (I know, I know...eons ago!!) I polled the humble readers of this blog what sort of sponson design a Terminus Ultra should have, (that post can be found here), the comical can't shoot at the same target GW design, the innovative Lord Halfpenny turreted design, an extended sponson design or a triple sponson design, your results pleased me as that was what I thought looked awesome... I'm pleased to say after 4 years of distraction, I finally got some progress to report!...

So, my tardiness in getting progress on a readers poll is not great, but I hope you think this design is better! Thanks for dropping by - see I eventually get back to you...   Siph

Hobby Time Refreshment

Now, the most of us are at some time unlucky enough to have to work with people who do not understand the hobby we love. They say "Toy Soldiers, childish, Dungeons and Dragons, Weirdo, Geek"... we've heard them all - the ignorant heretics! Ha. Pay them little or no attention. For those lucky enough to work with accepting people - awesome.

Anyway, my most excellent GF bought me this mug to take to my new workplace and I thought it would be a great way of signalling to those like minded individuals without causing a kerfuffle... don't get me wrong, when asked about my hobby or what I get up to in my time off I will tell them proudly, but for many they like to keep it quiet, which is a shame. But this way - they will know they can talk to me straight.

So, to all of you closet geeks out there - Hello, my name is Siph and I am a wargamer. (real names can be abused/stolen/de-frauded - nothing about shame before you ask, just internet savvy)

Hope you like my mug, I do. What do you say when asked about your hobbies? Tell them straight or keep it quiet? Let me know in the comments.

More (actual) hobby related stuff soon - from me... the warp seems to have swallowed the other WeeMen contributors Lord Halfpenny and 6thDegree ;)  Ha Ha

Mechanicum Castellax Battle-Automata with Multi-Melta

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping in. here is my latest offering to the painting Gods, a Mechanicum Castellax Battle-Automata armed with Multi-Melta and Power Blades with Flamer and Boltgun.
This was a part-painted purchase I made at cost price as the old owner wanted to move on to another army and have made the scheme more Ad Mech than the original green US Army style the previous owner had started, but I liked some of the green bits, so chose to keep the torso and fists green. I painted the red plates, the details and power cables and lenses and weathered the battle plates, multi-melta and did the bases to my usual standard. The paint job before was rather limited and no details but was fairly neat so I didn't need to strip and start again as such.
I have no idea of the rules for 40K for these, hopefully I'll get hold of the Taghmata Army Book and field these with my Vorax Battle-Automata and my recently purchased Ad Mech and Skitarii units from Mordian7th. I did pick up some Ad Mech transfers so I applied these to make the force more coherent. I also picked up two alternative heads for the bubble headed Kastelan Robots from Wargame Exclusive.com, the original GW heads are too 'danger Robinson family' for my liking...
I have 5 Castellax Battle-Automata and 2 Thanatar Siege-Automata with Hellex Pattern Plasma Mortars! As well as a number of units from Mordian7th to update the bases to match mine. Great fun, I'll post once updated and battle ready now I've bought the Codex Ad Mech and Skitarii, some great units I may have to try out at BlogWars X friendly tournament next month.

Cult Mechanicus Kastelan Robot Maniple by Mordian7th

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping in. Not my work to show you, I've just tinkered with the faces, fists and bases, all the hard work and most excellent praise should be credited to Mordian7th. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a fully painted Skitarii and Ad Mech army from Mordian7th along with the Vorax Battle Automata Robots I've already posted about. I wanted an Ad Mech army and happened across his post selling his, so I got some funds together and secured a purchase, he is a great chap who even offered my blogger discount on postage - top guy.
I really detested the 'Danger Robinson Family' look of the stock heads of the Kastelan Robots, so (apologies Mordian7th!) I took my dremel to them and removed the domed helmet and added these 'Wargame Exclusive.com' 3rd party company 'Imperial Mechanics' heads instead, changes the whole look of the model from 'cartoon' to 'battle worn robot' IMHO.
I did re-do the power fist fingers back to base metal colour, as my power fists don't have the blue glow that Mordian7th's did. I also weathered the Incendine Combustor barrels and did the bases to fit in with everything else I have. Other than that, it's all Mordian7th's great work!
Here is the Datasmith, in battle he is responsible for altering the protocols of the robots to suit the battle, either ranged, or CC bonuses - remove him and these become less than a dreadnought - stuck in a certain protocol.
And a shot of the rear of the miniatures.
And finally, a shot of Mordian7th's hard work untampered by me. Thanks for dropping by and thanks for these great miniatures Mordian7th! They will be used at BlogWars X next month! Cheers fella.

Hello Readers, welcome. Alex from over at From the Fang has been running now 10 BlogWars friendly tournaments, aimed at not having super net-list combo WAAC lists and a more friendly all-comers attitude, with the inclusion of some tailored rules to reduce OP rules and a compulsory Character choice. After the unpopularity of 4 Imperial Knights last time, these have now been capped to two also - Alex reads the feedback and endeavors to make it an enjoyable experience for all attending. He also runs it at non-profit, ploughing the ticket money into raffle prizes and certificates. Good stuff Alex, and thank-you for organising another one.

I attended two of the previous BlogWars and I am proud to say the contributors to WeeMen have attended EVERY BlogWars to date.

The next one is in less than two weeks time and this time will be no different, with all three of us attending! It should be a great weekend of battles and a visit to Warhammer World on the Sunday! Need's me some SM Command Tanks and a visit to the exhibition hall!

So, now for Army choices... I've chosen Space Marines and Adeptus Mechanicus, my love of the Relictors has no bounds but a nice contingent of Ad Mech will give me a chance to try out new Miniatures and units, and give me a chance to field the recently purchased Kastelan Maniple. I'll get a list and phots up soon.

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. Here is the latest offering, again this is from my good blogger-buddy Mordian7th, I've tinkered with the colour scheme, a few green power cables and pipes and the blue plasma glow plus the base to match my own - otherwise all Mordian7th's work, another great painted mini by him. Cheers man.
This is a lovely scuplt, somewhere between a bent over old man and a mechanical critter on eight metal legs that will eat your face off! Mordian did a great job on the vials of liquid I reckon.
I love the rich red colour scheme and the brass/gold bling. Fits the aesthetic of the Ad Mech and the Robots I already have completed.
Only character to be allowed a volkite blaster (S6, AP5, Heavy 3 Deflagrate and he's Relentless) in 40K, those Ad Mech gurus keeping all the nice weapons tech for themselves! The Character himself has lots of nice rules, haywire attack in CC, 2+/5++ save, 5 shot Burst macropistol and Power Axe, plus the nice Canticles of the Omnissiah and Master of Machines (restores HPs or Wounds of friendlies if choses not to fire one of his weapons (Mechandrite Harness allows him to fire all ranged weapons) so out of pistol range, this guy is a 'medic' too.

Hi guys - sorry for dropping off the face of the planet for the last 6 months...a combination of work, wedding planning and a Destiny addiction hasn't left much (any) time for hobbling. That being said, there was no way I would be missing out on the Blog Wars X - so on to my list:

Not the most original list (pretty much the same as my BW7-9 lists) but I have to put that down to three things:

1. Lack of time to do anything else (I am struggling to get 3 Obliterators finished in time).
2. I have no idea what's happening with the world of 40k right now - from the half eye I have kept on the meta it seems the world is full of insane formations, so I have chosen something at least I am familiar with (also - my Obliterators are always the last unit standing at the end of the game, so why not more?).
3. The Chaos Space Marine codex is pretty sucky and I'm not about to start anything else.

Fingers crossed I do slightly better than BW9 (it shouldn't be hard seeing as I actually have some units this time).

See you all there!

Hello Readers, time is nearly upon us at Weemen to visit up north and take part in the excellent friendly tournament of BlogWars 10 organised by From The Fang's Alex.
I submitted my army list to Alex a few weeks ago and wanted to use the recently purchased miniatures from Mordian7th into my Relictors, so without further ado, here it is:

Space Marine Primary Detachment (Salamanders)
Chapter Tactics– Flamecraft (All SM have FNP 4+ against Flamer hits. Flamers also re-roll failed To Wound/Pen with own Flame Weapons. Master Artisans – Characters all have one Master Crafted weapon. The Forgefather – Vulkan makes all Melta/Combi-Melta/Multi-Melta master crafted.)
HQ – Warlord (Named Character as per BlogWars rules) – Vulkan He’Stan 190
Troop – 5 Tactical Squad - Boltgun, 1x MC Combi Melta, 1x MC Meltagun 70 + 10 + 10
Troop – 5 Scout Squad - Boltgun, 1 MC Boltgun, 1x Missile Launcher 55 + 15
Fast Attack – 3 Attack Bike Squad - MC Multi-Melta 120 + 30
Fast Attack – Stormtalon Gunship - TL Assault Cannon / Skyhammer Missile 110 + 5
Fast Attack – Stormtalon Gunship - TL Assault Cannon / TL Heavy Bolter 110
Heavy Support –  Centurion Devastator Squad - 1 MC ML / 3 Grav Cannon/Amp 165 + 75 + 10

Ad Mech Secondary Detachment
HQ – Tech Priest Dominus 105
Troop – 3 Kataphron Breachers 150
Troop – 3 Kataphron Breachers 150
Elite – 10 Fulgrite Electro Priests 90+90
Heavy Support – 2 Kastelan Robots and 1 Cybernectica Datasmith 290

Formation: Holy Requistioner  1x Tech Priest Dominus 2x Kataphron Breachers: Deep Strike. Tech Priest does not scatter if 6in of Objective. Priest set up first. Breachers do not scatter if 6in of Priest. If within 6in of Objective – Breachers have Counter-Attack (+1A if charged) and Zealot

I have tried to maximise the Forgefather gifts from fielding my named character Vulkan He'stan, and every SM Character has one Master Crafted Weapon. Along with Torsion Cannon/Arc Claw wielding Breachers and the ability to Deep Strike, this will be quite good at Anti-Tank, but lacks Anti Infantry. The Cult Mechanicus stuff will be fun to use as I haven't even play tested it!

Any way, wish me luck and see you there if you are attending!

Lord Halfpenny- Blog Wars X list

Its that time again, the day before Blog Wars.. time to submit my list..

I opted to several new units, in fact 1 unit was still on the spur at the start of the week, unfortunately I've not managed to finish off the army completely, however all models have more than 3 colours, and are to 'table top' standard.. although no where need the 6thDegree or Siph's standards.. sorry guys, letting the team down..

After BW9, I planned to move away from a Knight list, and try something different, thus the plan was set. A space marine list- with my Ultramarines- or supersmurfs.. The UM's last had an outing in BW1, which seems like an age ago- and probably 3 rules books ago! where they didn't fair too well, with a loss and a draw. previous BW events have seen a Khorne list, a daemon list with Fatey and at BW9 my Knights with Dark Angels Allies.

I wanted a list that represented the reason I started collecting Space Marines, the images the feeling of what they were- the background was always about the angels of death arriving into the heart of the enemy and destroying them in rapid assaults. Thus, the plans were set in motion. Several trips to my local GW and ebay, and many purchases later the force started to form. The strategy is simple, hard hitting units arriving in turn 1 or 2, blowing everything dangerous up, and then mop up anything else.

The force is built around 2 formations, a normal battle formation, and a (cough) Skyhammer Annihilation formation (sorry....) with both built with drop pods in mind, with Devastators in the SAF, and both Sternguard and Centurions in additional Drop Pods. Support is in the form of Scouts and a thunderfire. My Character of choice is old faithful- Tigurius. Tigy is in his 2nd Iteration, having both models of Tigurius. I love the first model, he was the first character I ever bought, and painted however the 2nd model will be used this time- its a better painted model!

Ultramarines BWX strike Force

HQ- Tigurius
Elite-    10 Sternguard with 5x Melta and 5x Plasma combi weapons and a drop pod
Troops-5 Scouts with camo cloaks, flakk missile and all snipers,
  -         5 Scouts with 1 sniper and flakk missile
5 tactical marines in Drop Pod
Fast-    1 Drop Pod
            1 Attack Bike
Heavy- 3 Centurions with Grav and missiles- plus omni
            1 Thunderfire Cannon
SkyHammer
5 Man Devastator Squad with Grav- drop pod
5 Man Devastator with Multi Melta- drop pod
5 Man Assault squad with Eviscerator
5 Man Assault squad

The plan is simple, hit hard in the early turns, taking out primary targets, then move forward from there..

See you all there!

Firstly, a huge thank-you to Alex from 'From the Fang' for organising and running and participating in the tenth BlogWars friendly tournament, the third I have attended and the third I have enjoyed greatly. Whatever format the future holds I am sure you'll get Weemen attendance like every BlogWars! And a thank-you to my three gracious good humoured and friendly opponents for an excellent time when I was winning or having my butt handed to me...
My first battle was against Will Pomfrey's Sentinels of Terra Imperial Fist army with plenty of re-roll Bolter shots and general SM goodness, which was good for a first opponent as I knew what SM's were capable off so no surprises, just lots of Bolt shots :)
A drop pod in my lines with Grav Centurions didn't last the return fire from my own after he killed a Castelan Robot.
A SM Drop Pod of Bolters, Hvy Bolter and the HQ turned up and removed my Electro Priests except three, before my return fire did them back.
Turn three was starting to look bad for me, a wall of Yellow advanced on my lines and I had from somewhere a turn around of luck and I started to fight back. Lord Halfpenny had already been tabled and came over to see the same here - he thought... But I started to gain the advantage, destroying a Vindy and Vulkan despatched a Landspeeder Storm and Occupants.
The Kastelan and Tech Priest closed with the Landraider and Assault Centurions and somehow survived. Tech Priest killed the Vindy.
The later turns of 5, 6 and 7 meant the Fists got ground down, my StormTalons arrived and Vulkan was unstoppable taking out the second Scout Landspeeder Storm until a 4-round combat with a Siege Drill ended him, then the victory of the Centurion was cut short as a StormTalon rendered him to death... result a close win for me and a tabling for Will, 1950 maximum points for me, 1755 for Will. Great game and a great opponent, thanks man.
The second game was against Jason Roberts' Necrons, they had two large BS5 blobs of Warriors and lots of Tomb Blades, 6 Wraiths and a nasty Nightbringer Toughness 8 Formation 'Conclave of the Burning One'.
Jason was a good opponent and knew his Necrons, they annihilated me piecemeal over the next few turns... all I killed in total was 7 Tomblades and one Wraith.
The Deep Striking, Blinding, Toughness 8 Nightbringer and 2 Crypteks just would not die and Vulkan and Grav Centurions and Scouts and Kataphron Breachers all died..
80 Gauss BS5 shots and a lot of saved RP rolls gets quite frustrating but I knew Jason was just doing his job, I hope I didn't come across as ungrateful, I enjoyed the game as I learnt a lot about my own Necron force abilities (the hard way!) and know I need to field my Warriors in big blobs, boost with Triarch Stalker and saw first hand that Wraiths are great! And a deep striking toughness 8 monstrous creature was a hard nut to try to crack!
Well done to Jason for a maximum 33pt to Nil Objective win over me, but my pride was not dented too much as the StormTalon still soared above the field, even if it had taken a while for either of them to turn up! :(  Thanks for being a sporting opponent Jason, and gracious in your win!
The final battle was against Ian Plumpton's Skitarri and Imperial Knight, I was looking forward to this match up, I wanted to go up against a Knight to see what Torsion Cannons and Grav could do. Vulkan's Master Crafted ability on Multi-Meltas will also help. And having some un-fielded Skitarri of my own, I was keen to be on the receiving end.
The right flank Breachers and Marines were a little overwhelmed and I had to abandon that flank, rather than deal with three Crawlers, Ian luckily had little anti-air, so my Talons on Turn 4 (double one twice for Reserves!) were both used to good effect.
The left flank faired a lot better and after a fatal twist of luck for Ian's Ion Shield placed to deflect the three Torsion Cannons from it's flank, my Grav Centurions were able to rip apart the Knight. Huzzah! The ElectroPriests killed some RustStalkers and generally everything seemed to go quite well for me with regard to Tactical Objective cards, making it an up hill struggle for Ian from turn 1 and an eventual win for me, 16VPs against Ian's 9VPs but a great opponent and a thoroughly enjoyable end to a great day. Thanks Ian, top bloke.

And finally, the results of our tenth Weemen outing to BlogWars, well done Lord Halfpenny placed 13th of 50 with his SM Skyhammer Annihilation Force, nowhere as cheesy D as two Eldar Wraithlists(!), I placed 29th with SM and Ad Mech after two wins and 6thDegree placed 38th with his Iron Warriors CSM. A great weekend whatever the outcomes!
