Chaos Daemons - Daemonettes of Slaanesh

$

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. The latest offering to the Dark Gods is a squad of Slaaneshi Daemonettes. I painted these using Contrast Paints and normal layer paints, and a tutorial can be found here Painting Daemonettes.
A rather striking mix of heady purples and bright shocking pinks, and a few golds - very excess, very Slaanesh.
Daemonettes are Slaanesh's Lesser Daemons and the most numerous of all his servants. Possessed of the hypnotic glamour for which all Daemons of Slaanesh are abhorred, they are vicious, merciless fighters who attack with astounding speed and grace - according to GW. Well on the battlefield they do have quite a punch, its just getting them into combat is the kicker - they melt under Bolter fire.
I've included an Instrument of Chaos and an Icon of Chaos so when mixed with my existing squad of 10 to make an indecent blob of 20 - they will get across the table and reap a nice tally. Well, that's the plan...

It's that time of year - Dreadtober 2020

Hello Dreadtober-teers! My favourite hobby event of the calendar year is back again for another installment, feel free to click on the sidebar picture for a link to the main Dreadtober site, this year being run by Marc (Old School Gaming) so a massive thanks to him for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) for their contributions through the years too.

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct (tomorrow) and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) and I like to partake in Dreadtober, and have done for a few years, you can see the fruits of this labour in the picture below.
This year I have got a Space Marine Leviathan Dreadnought out of the to-do pile and onto the hobby desk, armed with the fearsome close-ranged Grav Flux Bombards, 18in of pure heavy death!
The state of play today
The fearsome Grav-Flux Bombard arms
Box of resin joy.

Wish me good luck and plenty of hobby time, and to all the Dreadtober-teers, many successes with your own projects!

Relictors Space Marine Bike Squad - 'Ablative Wound' Bikers

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. I painted up some Bike Squads ages ago (Bike Squad with Grav), blimey time flies, that was four years ago! But, as the special weapons and Sergeant with Combi-Weapon could be fielded as is, the addition of a few 'ablative wound' bikers without special weapons would ensure the Bike Squad remained combat effective and high damage output for longer.
So, I have finally gotten around to painting up four 'standard' Bikers to add to the two under-strength Bike Squads I had. Partly as they have been sitting in the to-do pile for four years, and partly because I cannot with good conscious paint up the Primaris Bikers in Indomitus box set without firstly painting what Bikes I already had! These are the first two.
And the understrength Bike Squad number two was actually Plasma Gun armed, however they have nicked two more standard Bikers, so here is another Bike Squad armed with Grav Guns that has now two new additional members.
Here is the two new additions, I was very pleased to see the consistency of painting even after a break of four years - they fit perfectly in. Now if the SM Bike design old and new could just have the ground clearance to drive over a pebble... I still love the old bike design. Shielded and brutal, functional. Classic.

So that brings my Bike force up to 1x5 Melta Squad, 1x5 Plasma Squad, 2x5 Grav Squad plus 3x Attack Bikes, 1x5 Scout Bikes, a Chaplain, a Librarian, a Captain (on JetBike) and a Master of the Forge on bike! 32 Bikes. (I still have 5x Bikes and 5x long range recon Scout Bikes (SM bike with metal Scouts originals to do...) Maybe I can paint the new Outriders first after all, as a treat! Haha, only my Hobby Butterfly will know!

Imperial Knights - Armiger Helverin #1 #2 and #3 - Vassal Knights of Legio Astorum

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. A rather nice addition to my Imperial Knights force, my Vassal Knights of Legio Astorum. I am a big fan of Armigers, so naturally I wanted to expand my force of Armigers beyond two Armiger Warglaives with some much needed and longer range firepower.
Here is #1, Armiger Helverin 'Knave Luxious' riding 'Fury of Thaemar'. These three follow the same scheme as the first pair, with Astorum Blues and Golds and yellow head cowlings.
The heraldic halves of the pads are done in a similar way to the larger Knights, with Imperial Aquila's showing their unyielding loyalty to the Emperor.
I picked out the Reactor with brass and the black and white cog motif of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Each Armiger Helverin has a small sunburst halo on the carapace denoting the Engine number, #1, #2 or #3 of the Squadron. I decorated the base with some slate chips to break up the large expanse of sand and PVA.
Squadron member, 'Lady Irmaa' riding 'War Strider', No.2 denoted by the two small sunburst halo's on the edge of the carapace.
I added heat staining effects to the barrels and stubber up top too.
I love the double drum magazines these Armiger Autocannons have, a nice look.
Squadron Member #3, 'Lady Melandra' riding 'Blue Jackal', the names are from the Imperial Knights Name Generator in the Psychic Awakening Engine War book.
As well as the heat stained barrels I also soot stained the exhausts.
The half cog motif on the shoulder was from the Imperial Armiger transfer sheet.
Here is all three showing some unique motifs on the carapace as well as a better look at the heraldic shoulder plates.
And a nice in battle shot of the Armiger force so far, Helverins for fire support whilst the Warglaives charge the enemies lines.
And the Armiger Helverins accompanying their larger Charge, a smaller Titan, a Scout Warhound Titan of the Legio Astorum - that's a lot of firepower in that picture!

Hello Dreadtober-teers!

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, going throughout October and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) Check out the Dreadtober Blog in the Sidebar >>>>>
I'm pleased to say I completed my exam at work and that freed up some hobby time for Dreadtober progress, I started with the ground up, a suitable base with slate chips and a skull from the Box o'Skulls set from GW. I then posed the legs and painted them, next I need to finish around the foot now the legs are glued to the base, some sand and PVA and then the Mournfang Brown/Karak Stone/Ushabti Bone drybrush to blend in.
Whilst the base was drying I took the time to magnetise the Grav-Flux Bombard arms as I can see in the future with my Dreadnought Drop Pod I might want to re-arm (literally) this Leviathan to have the Claw and Drill or Melta Lance if its to get up close and personal. As I can only justify one Relic Leviathan per Battle Company, this one will be attached to 4th Company so I will have to add a touch of green somewhere as well as the green 'grav' effect I have on my existing Grav weapons...

Keep going Dreadtober-teers, plenty of time to progress those brutes! I'm enjoying seeing peoples updates.

Cheers, Siph.

Legio Astorum - Reaver Titan "Aquila Oculus" - WIP #7 - Legs Complete

$

0
Hello Titanseers, the legs for 'Aquila Oculus' are now completed. She will soon Walk... just the small matter of Torso, Weapons, a base and power coupling hoses to do...
Last month, this was where I was, matching pairs of Leg Armour, each pair has a larger indent and a smaller indent piece, and the pairs match up so both the larger indents go in the inside leg.
I used rattle can sprays to achieve a red fade and a vinyl stencil for flames. Spray all the plate black, the top end white, then spray entire plate red except the upper most section. This gives a natural darkening to the base, getting brighter up the plate. The top was then sprayed Yellow. The white makes the uppermost flame parts brighter yellow. The red underneath, slightly orange yellows. Then stencil for flames was placed over the yellow/red fade, and the bottom half masked off. Then the stencil and top half is sprayed black, then brushed blue. Peel off the tape and stencil and you have the classic Legio Astorum flames - yes I know natural flames have yellow hearts and dark red extremities, but the Legio Astorum flames are red fading to yellow at the top, to contrast against the blue field.
A great effect and not an airbrush in sight, I must actually use it at some point, I've reached my zenith when it comes to rattle cans now!
The groin hoses were a bugger - all needed bending via a hair dryer and shaped into place, I then drilled and pinned and painted, then glued into place. The photo makes the hoses look 3D printed, they are not - they are ribbed and the light tricks the eye in the above photo.
Here you can see the drilling for the pins and the paint scratches for the other groin armour plate, this ensures a strong bond with the JB Weld onto the roughened resin surface, not to the paint layer.
And here are the final Legs posed in a stride forward (to the left in above image). The hip pistons will be counter-angled to ensure the torso is not leaning over so the movement is clear but the balance is not compromised.
Here you can see the stride out more clearly and the nice red fade. A nice set of legs...

Cheers, Princeps Seniores Siph.

So, I really knuckled down and before I knew it, I had finished the pledge ahead of time! Meet the newest addition to the 4th Company Relictors Space Marines, a Relic Leviathan armed with twin Heavy Flamers and two Grav-Flux Bombards! Close range heavy-death for anyone who strays too close, heavy infantry, hordes and Imperial Knights, we care not!
The Grav-Flux Bombard received some brasswork and green 'grav' gubbins akin to the rest of my force's Grav Weapons, all which have a brass muzzle and green workings - stands out from the blue Plasma effects elsewhere.
The Green is also replicated in the 4th Company's codex compliant coulour markings, along with some big '4's if you were in doubt!
The base received some slate chips unpainted just drybrushed with the base highlights of Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone to link it into the rest of the base, simple and effective.
The base also got some "Gamer's Grass" tufts and a big giant skull from the Box of Skulls kit.
The black kneepad is the Chapter badge, white skull on back field. (For ease I used the decal skulls, not a sideways skull as Relictors should really have but I have 10yrs of Relictors - I'm not going to change anytime soon! - until GW supports with decals?!)
I have also magnetised the Grav Flux Bombards so I can re-fit with Close Combat or Melta Lance dependent on the battle and delivery in a Dreadnought Drop Pod.
And here he is alongside his Brother from 5th Company, two 'thicc chonky bois'... Thanks for dropping by and keep going Dreadtober-teers! Another week to progress where you are at!

Necrons - Canoptek Scarabs and Canoptek Reanimator

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. I started on my Indomitus Necrons and the first out the box was the 'War of the Worlds' Canoptek Reanimator. Love this new aspect of the Necrons, very alien looking, great miniature. But first, I painted the new Canoptek Scarabs.
The new Canoptek Scarabs come as blobs of Scarabs to look more like the swarms they are, a vast improvement on the single 4 Scarabs per base of the old Warriors. I added at least six to each of my bases to make more swarm-like. But these look great 'out of the box'.
To blend them in to the masses of old Scrab bases I have, I added some old spare Scarabs and some of the smaller spare Scarabs from the Tesseract Vault.
The new piles of Scarabs look great
Here is a shot of the entire Swarm of Scarabs, they fit in nicely.
And the new addition to the Necron forces, a Canoptek Reanimator, to boost the reanimation protocols of the nearby units. I added more spare pieces of a Kastelan Robot to the ruins of the base, a head unit and a spare arm-thumb piece.
I love the tall gangly looking aspect of this one, so much different from the rest of the Necron range, I can't wait for his bigger brother, the 'Canoptek Doomstalker' with the 'Doomsday Blaster' cannon atop - coming soon, who doesn't want a 48in Heavy D6 S10 -5AP D6dmg gun. OOoooh-LAAaaaa (War of the Worlds ref.)
Image from Games Workshop Warhammer Community
Here you can see the unfortunate Kastelan robot, he is slowly being phased away by the feeder tendrils of some Scarabs. converting his mass into energy.
I added two spare Tesseract Vault Scarabs to the base on the re-bar and Kastelan head. There are two more small Scarabs moulded onto the base as well. My second Canoptek Reanimator will have some scrap Necron Warrior parts on the base to substitute this terrain and a spare head from the Canoptek Spyder kit to make both models different.
"No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinised, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us." Dreadtober 2016-2020 Recap - Six Dreadnoughts in 5 Years

Hi Dreadtober-teers, thanks for dropping by, since I finished this year's pledge a week early I thought I'd continue my Dreadtober posts this week with the re-cap of my offerings over the years of participating with this fine friendly hobby event - as you can see from the photo above, the event has been fruitful and I am six Dreadnoughts better off for my five years of participation.
2020 - Relic Leviathan Dreadnought with Grav-Flux Bombards

2018 - MKIV Ironclad Dreadnought from Forge World

2017 - Modern Deredeo with Space Marine Casualty

2016 - Plastic Contemptor Dreadnought with re-posed legs

Cheers, and great work to all the Dreadtober-teers this year, thanks for the inspiration and the Dreads! And not forgetting it was run by Marc (Old School Gaming) so a massive thanks to him for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) for their contributions through the years too.

Adeptus Mechanicus - Technoarcheologist Daedalosus

Hello All, thanks for dropping in. Daedalosus is an Adeptus Mechanicus Technoarcheologist, who is charged with uncovering and analyzing the technological relics of Mankind 's dark past. This has led him to scour the frontiers of Imperial territory, where he has picked through scrap worlds and ancient battle-zones in search of hidden wonders.

I bought this at a fair price online as it is only available in Blackstone Fortress stuff which I neither have the time or inclination to get into, however his stats and cost are too good not to use on the battlefield - +1 to Hit for Units near him and on a visible enemy within 24in of Daedalosus, so park him with your big hitters and you get a juicy bonus for hitting the enemy!
It's a nice sculpt, the aerials were a bit fiddly and didn't survive first contact with the carpet when dropped, but otherwise cool wargear and Eradication Pistol (Ray Gun!)
His other hand is a super-Auspex-Omniscope, the Omniscanner and in his satchel/holster must be the Archeotech Device he can use once per game to either heal friendlies or mortal wound the enemy.
The robes were Mephiston Red, washed Agrax, layered Mephiston Red, highlighted Evil Sunz Red.  The copper is Fulgurite Copper washed Agrax and highlighted with base colour. The leather Mournfang Brown, washed Nuln and highlighted Balor Brown. The one leather glove is Doombull Brown and Wazdakka Red.

A lovely little addition to the AdMech Forces, and a cheap boost unit character. So many little details to bring out and make the AdMech quite pleasant to paint - until I have to do more of my Skitarii Squads!

Relictors Space Marines - Company Champion

Hello All, thanks for dropping in to have a look. This is a rather special post to me - my official completion to my Relictors 5th Battle Company! This is the special limited edition Army Box set Veteran Sergeant model, converted and re-armed to be the Company Champion.
The Combat Shield comes from the 2nd Edn metal Terminators, the arm from a 3rd party Emperor of Mankind model, the power pack from a Limited Edition Sternguard Sergeant metal model too. I added a plastic arm and voila. The original arm with the raised Storm Bolter is on my Veteran Squad with Storm Shields and Storm Bolters.
I used a 32mm adapter ring to increase the base size. The Power Sword was layered with Kantor Blue, Sotek Green and then edged with Templeguard Blue and Baharroth Blue at the tip.
The purples were Contrast Shylish Purple highlighted Daemonette Hide. The power nubs on the reverse of the shield were coated with Nihilakh Oxide.
The traditional Company Command Squad now complete, Veterans, Ancient Banner Bearer, Apothecary and finally the Champion - I have an extensive Battle Company as sold in the Battle Company Box Set now OOP -
  • 2 HQ Characters - Company Captain plus one
  • 1 Razorback
  • 1 Command Squad - 2 Vets, Apothecary, Banner, Champion
  • 6 Tactical Squads and Rhinos
  • 2 Devastator Squads and Rhinos
  • 2 Assault Squads
However it was never officially complete without a Company Champion, so finally after 11yrs I did it (with a lot of extra Armoury additions and a fledgling 4th Company and Primaris reinforcements...)

Cheers for stopping by, Siph. (10pts)

Relictors Chapter Space Marines - Primaris Aggressors Squad

Hello All, thanks for dropping in. Today I would like to showcase my latest addition to the growing Primaris reinforcements to my Relictors Chapter - some well needed firepower - Primaris Aggressors.
Even though these are the 'firstborn Centurions' of the Primaris range, they are a lot easier to paint and I did in a main assembly including the head which needs to be in place before the cowling; power cables and shoulder pauldrons.
Here is the Sergeant, I didn't see that the model has a spare set of skull adorned Boltstorm gauntlets until I'd fitted one, so he just has one 'badge of honour' on his fists. The box allows all three to be built as troops.
And here is the first of the troops, I intend expanding the squad in the future as they are just so effective on the tabletop.

Legio Astorum - Reaver Titan "Aquila Oculus" - WIP #8 - Weapon Arms and Power Couplings

$

Hello Titanseers, more progress on the Reaver No.2, Aquila Oculus now has some arms to fight with! I chose a 'disco' Reaver, two triple-barreled Battle Titan Laser Blasters and a carapace mounted dual-barrel Turbolaser Destructor. As you can see from the above WIP pictures, I have used 8mm x 30mm rod magnets for the arms and small 2mm x 3mm for the hose connectors. A trick is to mark the poles different colours so you dont mess up polarity - this way I can swap out and exchange weapons between Battle Titans (Reavers and Warbringers).
The cross hatching and no paint ensures a strong bond for the Armour Plates, and the magnet sits flush with the gun casing so the Arm mounts have a strong connection. The slot on top of the weapon fits snuggly with the Armour Panel so they sit in the correct position for the Arm mount and magnet. Simple to do.
The weapons come with right angled hose connectors, these are the re-modded Battle Titan weapons, I find it easier to glue the hoses to the torso and add the hose connectors to the hoses rather than the individual weapons, meaning the weapons simply pulls downward at the arm joint and lifts away leaving the hoses on the torso - a simple clunk into place, the hose magnets ensure the hoses sit correctly on the weapon mount regardless whether it is a left arm or right arm - the weapons are interchangeable - if the right angle connectors were fitted, they would not be exchangeable between left and right.
The hoses are pinned for strength at the torso connection point, and a small magnet in the dome of the hose connector to fit into the concave of the weapon mount.
In preparation for the coming together of the Rites of Construction, several of the Armour Plates were also finished off. The Aquila is red to match the red half Aquila heraldry on Aquila Oculus.
And the completed 'Disco' Arms, two Battle Titan Laser Blasters, I kept the blue armour free from kill markings or star map motifs as these are both completely interchangeable between left/right and Reaver/Warbringer. The Armour plates were painted separately and then clamped and glued into place afterwards, making sure to roughen up the surfaces for the JB Weld to better adhere.

The metal is simple, Leadbelcher washed with a mix of Nuln and Agrax, drybrushed with Necron Compound (oh the heresy!), gold is picked out with Vallejo Model Colour Brass (70.801) which is an almost perfect match for Citadel's Retributor Gold and washed Reikland Fleshshade. The central barrel sections had a drybrush of Soulstone Silver and further Nuln Oil at the extremities, to add some interest.
The muzzles received the same heat staining effect as the carapace Turbo Laser Destructor, just a simple drybrush of black around the muzzle, then a sequential washes of black, blue, purple and sepia - Nuln Oil, Drakenhof Nightshade, Leviathan Purple and Seraphim Sepia going backwards along the barrel. It adds some much needed colour and interest to plain barrels.

Just the base (not required but all my Titans are based for extra stability and the base acts as a third side of a triangle making the legs super rigid and strong) and the main torso section to complete now before it all gets sanctified and Walks! I'm hoping to have this Titan completed before the year is out - I may not be the fastest but this is 3.5 times faster than my Warlord build time! :)

Cheers, Princeps Seniores Siph

Legio Astorum Reaver Titan "Aquila Oculus" - WIP #9 - All about the Base

$

0
Hello Titan-seers, welcome back, I am progressing the Reaver build to the Base - I base the Titans, its not necessary but I feel it makes them a lot more stable and the legs form a strong triangle with the base being the third side of the triangle so really solid.
I used a Forstner Bit to make depressions for the screw head and washer that will complement the glue bonding the feet to the base, a screw up into the foot helps hold the foot down whilst the glue dries and forms a strong bond in addition to the JB Weld.
The base is 6mm MDF and sanded smooth on the sides, layered with PVA and glue and some slate chips. Where the foot is flat on the base, I scored the surface to increase the surface area and avoid gluing sand on those areas.
Here is the finished article, painted my usual Mournfang Brown, Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone and tufts and flock patches. Above shows the personal heraldry of "Aquila Oculus", the red Aquila is repeated on the chest armour and the carapace shield - black sun of Lucius and the 'eagle eye' bird design, "Aquila Oculus" meaning eagle-eye (my Action Man reference).
The flame designs look great with the base and against the blue. The right knee cap is the Titan name.

So, just the trim to go on the Torso. Almost complete!

Cheers, Siph

Relictors Librarian in Power Armour #9 and Librarius Conclave

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. The latest in a line of Librarian Psykers, No.9 for the Battle Company if you include Tigurius and the RT-era 4th Company Librarian... I think my Librarius Conclave is now complete (with the exception of newer Battle Brothers who cross the Primaris Rubicon...)
I added a variant of the Command Skull as the Relictor Chapter badge, seemed fitting to have a red halo coming from the skull cranium! I also chose yellow as an accent colour on the tabbard, a throw back to the Insignium Astartes uniforms book states all Librarians wear Blue Armour and Yellow Tabbards.
The shoulder Pauldrons are in Relictors Chapter colours, and the scrollwork was picked out in Skeleton Horde contrast.
The haft of the Force Stave was again picked out with Magos Purple contrast over an Ulthuan Grey base. Simple and effective looking, love it... I'm tempted to go back and repaint the Force Weapons elsewhere to match...
I was rather pleased with the face and beard, Ratskin Flesh, Kislev Flesh, washed Reikland Flesh, highlighted Kislev Flesh and eyes picked out in a psychic blue clear paint (FW Calth Blue) over Ulthuan Grey. The beard is simply the same armour colours, Dawnstone, Administratum Grey washed Nuln Oil.
And a shot of the Conclave so far... roll on Primaris Psykers...

Imperial Knights - Vassal Knights of Legio Astorum - Knight Questoris Crusader

$

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. The backlog of Imperial Knights continues, I want these done and in the display cabinets to free up some space under the games tables for potential Christmas presents...
So here is a Imperial Knight Crusader 'Selwyn' riding 'Honour Intractable' of the Vassal Knights of Legio Astorum, in the scheme of the Legio Astorum, very similar to the box art cover of the House Terryn Knights, just substituting the cream for yellows and lacking horse head decals!
As before, the reverse heraldry proudly displays the Imperial Aquila, for all to see the loyalty of the Legio Astorum. A few hoses were picked out in green for interest and the Machina symbols painted black and white.
I added slate to the base for interest and drybrushed it to match the drybrushing highlights of Ushabti Bone and Karak Stone.
The Legio Astorum decals were from the Forge World Titan decals sheets, I am dangerously running low on these now as they are OOP and scalpers charge £200+ on eBay for a sheet - I am not willing to pay that for a £25 sheet, even RRP was steep!

The Carapace weapons are all removable, just a pin which inserts into the top carapace socket, so easily transported and swapped amongst the force as the List demands.

Cheers, Siph (20pts)

Legio Astorum - Reaver Titan "Aquila Oculus" - Walks!

$

Hello All, thanks for dropping by - "Aquila Oculus" Walks! I am really pleased with my efforts, Legio Astorum has a new addition Engine, meet the mighty 'Disco' Reaver - dual Triple Laser Blasters and a carapace Twin Turbolaser Destructor! No longer 40K compliant with the pared down rules (or lack of options except the Apocalypse Missile Launcher) but we play Adeptus Titanicus 28mm at Titan Owners Club Walks so happy with that.
I continued the stripe work of the Maniple with a striped rear carapace quarter, and what's noticeable is the Astorum old-school flame effect on the legs, it was strange painting red on an Astorum blue titan!
The reverse of the Banner has the Titan Owners Club crest. I also added some Mechanicus Cog motifs on the Laser Blasters and a makers mark on the rear Carapace.
Here you can see the striding forward pose, all guns blazing!
Here you can see the personal heraldry on the carapace and the heat stained Laser Blasters.
The banner was printed and then adapted with the Titan's name.
The kneepad shows the titan name, and a close up of the flame effect.
And the other leg the personal heraldry, the red aquila repeated on the chest armour.
And the Certificate number on the armour.
Here you can see the rear Void Shield Projectors made from Warhound internal lights, as a banner pole base, topped with the Void Shield Projectors from a wrecked Lucius Warhound. I am awaiting banners akin to the banners seen in the Adeptus Titanicus 1st Edn artwork.
The Banner Poles will have a couple of these type banners atop the Carapace.
The arms are all magnetized with 8mm x 20mm rods and small 2mm x 2mm magnets in the hose connectors, meaning all the Battle Titan class weapons can be swapped out easily. The magnets are all the same polarity so either arm can be placed on either side.
Hidden under the top carapace is the neck armour, which I decorated with a nice decal from the Astorum sheet, however its hidden when constructed - but I know its there!
Here is the proud crew, Princeps and Moderati.
And in the back, the Titan Techpriest monitoring the reactor output and systems.
With all of the removable panels and weapons taken off she is ready for future releases and extra weapon releases.
All painted up and ready to go, I've used Clear Lacquer spray for car body trims to seal the titan and protect the bodywork and restore the shine to the trim and armour panels. I like the factory fresh well maintained holy war Engine, of course weathered and battered Engines are also entirely suitable for long campaigns.
Here she is next to her twin, Reaver "Honorum", a fine set of Battle Titans
And finally, a fine picture of my Titan Maniple so far! The Emperor's Halo Maniple ready to wage war in the Holy Emperor's name! Legio Astorum Walks!

Cheers all for following along with this build, pleased to get this addition done and onto the next Titan, a strip and rebuild of  a Mars Warhound Titan.

Have a great Christmas all.

Legio Astorum - Reaver Titan "Aquila Oculus" Addendum - Banners!

Hello Titanseers, a bonus post before Christmas, my good friend Drake from TOC and Battle Bunnies sent me the banners we designed (well I sketched a rough pencil scribble - he did the graphical design wizardry!) and now Aquila Oculus proudly displays her allegiances to the Imperium, Astorum and Titan Owners Club ;)
I hope you agree the banners do finish off this fine Titan quite well, and for those old enough to remember, envoke a little feeling towards the pictures found in 1st Edn Adeptus Titanicus and WD's of the 90's... big banners from Titans was all the rage!
I asked for the same style blue and yellow sections as all the banners of Astorum at the time were of similar designs.
Now hopefully the banner poles and odd shaped rear Void Projectors make more sense!

Cheers all for following along with this build and now I have started the next Titan, a strip and rebuild of  a Mars Warhound Titan.

Have a great Christmas all.

Imperial Knights - Vassal Knights of Legio Astorum - Knight Gallant Sir Taurus in "Carnivore"

Hello All, hope you are enjoying the TitanGuard/Holidays/Christmas season - I wish you a better 2021!  I have added to my Vassal Knights Banner with the meaty addition of a close-combat orientated Questoris Knight Gallant, this one has been christened "Carnivore" and is rode by Sir Taurus (names generated from the Engine War supplement (puns intended)...
As with my other Astorum Vassal Knights, I adapted the Terryn pattern livery, substituting whites with Astorum Yellows and the heads are painted yellow. Gold trim and decals from Legio Astorum Titan Transfer sheet - now running low! Come on Forge World, they've been OOP for over a year and i'm not paying scalpers £200 for a £20 sheet! £20 was steep!
The bases follow my standard pattern with slate chips, sand and PVA glue and Mournfang Brown / Karrak Stone / Ushabti Bone drybrush highlights.
The under structure got some Balthasar Gold 'brass' detailing and the characteristic green power cables common across all my Imperial armies.
Sir Taurus' personal heraldry appears on the right forward pauldron whilst the rear pauldron's show Legio Astorum's unyielding devotion to the Imperial Creed.
The tilting shield heraldry is again from the Legio Astorum Titan decal sheet, with a few purity seals added.
The Legio Astorum sigil proud on the Knight's cockpit cover.
The carapace Rocket Pod is detachable, with a brass rod into the centre mounting. Good for swapping between mounts for the ease of list building.

Cheers, hope you have plenty of Crimbo pressies to keep you entertained. Siph. (20pts)
