Eversor Assassin

Welcome Readers, thanks for dropping in. Following on from the Callidus Assassin I bought ages ago, here is a quick un-Christmassy post lol. Not a fat man in a red suit, but a black body-glove wearing brutal combat-stimmed psychotic Assassin instead!

I never got a copy of the Assassin Execution Force game on release however, plenty of Assassin models appeared on eBay shortly after and now they get their own blister packs. I didn't want to fund the money grabbing greedy re-sellers at the time, so I bought a pre-painted decent one from an artist/hobbyist instead. So not all my own work, just adapted from a real decent paint job.
I re-did the base and skull and dirtied with Typhus Corrosion, some small details, scope and lenses, highlights on the leather and red armour, brass shell cases, but I left the wonderful green glow of the eye lenses and the combat drug dispensers, but the little alterations made him fit my own forces
I saw Rob's 30kplus40k post about his Eversor Assassin base and that reminded me to get this one out of deep To-Do pile storage (I forgot I had him!) and out he popped and finished off.
So, not all my own work by any standards, it was a great job to start with, but hey, it's mine now and will be used in a battle soon! Can't wait to see how it performs on the field in melee, I've never fielded one myself but I'm told he is a beast when he gets there!

A huge thank-you to all our readers who pop in and say hi to our corner of the blogosphere. And a bigger thanks to the entrants to the Charity giveaway. It was only an arbitrary figure of:
500,000 number
... page views and now that's accelerated to over 531,000 already! Jeez, I'll have to start thinking what to give for the Millionth page view at this rate, lol.

So the crunch of the article, I used a random.org number generator to choose the random number click that would win, each entrant donation of whole £1 translated to a single entry, so a number was generated and the lucky winner was:
£69.26 raised so 69 whole pounds of entry tickets. Using Random.org generator:
Number 10, the tenth ticket happens to be among the first donation! Congrats to:

NICK THROWER

Contact me buddy with your address and I'll get this prize to you.

Thank-you for everyone who donated to this worthy cause, you are good good people. And thank-you to all the readers for making the WeeMen blog one of your blogroll regular reads, cheers.

Terrain and Scenery - Alternative Cargo Containers

Hello Readers, so today I finished up my alternative to the great GW Munitorum Armoured Containers terrain. These are more along the lines of the fabled FW containers that FW keep adorning their dioramas with, however quite larger than the GW ones and not as detailed or cannot be opened. But, if like me you want LOS blocking scenery - then these are ideal!
These are from Ganemat.eu and discussed in an earlier post HERE. I decided for the first two, I would paint them Imperial Fist and Mechanicum colours, and have them based together on a single level. The next two will be stacked on top of each other so they will even block the LOS for Imperial Knights, Wraithknights and Tau Stormsurges.
I added some battlefield barricades and some Cities of Death ladders for interest and used some appropriate transfers. These will go well with my other Mechanicum themed terrain. I have a large collection of terrain now, I believe it makes the battles better. Check out the TERRAIN posts at the link.
Here finally are some scale pictures, easily hiding a Land Raider from those Tau Railguns! Or below, a Marine is dwarfed by them, so you can see why I added ladders!
Thanks for dropping in, hopefully you were given some nice WeeMen themed gifts for Christmas. Cheers, Siph.

Daemon Prince of Tzeentch - Fallen UM

Happy New Year Readers, thanks for dropping in and checking out our humble corner of the Blogosphere. Here is my latest addition to the fledgling Chaos Daemons force, I was building as a purely summoned Daemon force for my Relictor SM Librarians cold summon using Malefic Daemonology - for pure fluff reasons, Relictors fight Chaos with Chaos. But, I thought a Daemon Prince was a great miniature, and I could make this force a small Allied Force for either Lord Halfpenny or 6thDegree to team up with. I stress a small force! I am not committing to another large Army! I have too many projects on the go...
Here you can see that this was indeed a Ultramarine once, this is purely for revenge on Lord Halfpenny for painting up his Daemon Prince as a fallen Relictor Marine! Ha Ha... got you back! It also doubles as a nice way to use blue, a rather fetching colour for a Daemon of Tzeentch.
I couldn't paint him without pants, so he got some Action Man style blue spray-on pants!
The wings were washed with Ogryn Fleshtone so mark them as leathery sheets different from the spines, the main body colours were Zandri Dust, Ushabti Bone, Rotten Flesh and washed Agrax Earthshade after the base coat of Zandri Dust.
The axe was finished off with some Blood For the Blood God effects, the blue armour Kantor Blue and Temple Guard Blue highlights, and the Brass was from Game Colour.
Something different for me, and totally refreshing to paint a Daemon after Relictors and Necrons. Really enjoyed the experience and look forward to fielding him as a nuisance flying Daemon Prince like Lord Halfpenny does to me! Cheers, Siph.

Reaver Titan - WIP Part 1

Hi one and all,

As you may have seen in a previous years post, I own a Reaver titan, purchased at the same time as Siph's 'Honorum', numbered 10, mine number 11, and for some time (eons! - Siph) it has been sitting unbuilt, waiting for me to take on the challenge to build it and the confidence to do it!

As the only member of Weemen to not have a FW titan (*cough Armorcast, *cough Knights *cough Mega Massive Imperator piece) the time has come to bite the bullet and get it done! so 2017 will be the year I will complete the Reaver!
Currently all that is built is the base, with the inner parts of the Rhino from the battlescape built, and of course the corpse of a dead Relictor inside (obviously playing with Chaos books...), the interior is painted. My plan is to jigsaw the base so its slightly smaller, and shaped so that it isn't square, then will look to paint the base similar to that of a normal base. The Rhino might have a shade of 'Relictor' grey, or Iron Warrior silver. I'm not sure yet.
I'll look to post images and details as I progress with the build...

Wish me luck!

Mechanicum Thanatar Siege-Automaton #2 w/ Hellex Plasma Mortar

Happy New Year fellow Bloggers and Readers, thanks for dropping by. It was about this time last New Year when I completed his brother HERE. This mechanical beast is the Thanatar Class Siege-Automaton armed with the lobbing Hellex Plasma Mortar, large blast ordnance S8 AP2 fun-ness.
Here's the secondary weapon, the twin linked Mauler Boltcannon, which is a marine killing AP3.
Still loving the massive magazine and ammo feed belt.
This was the final model from the part-painted purchase I made at cost price as the old owner wanted to move on to another army and have made the scheme more Ad Mech than the original green US Army style the previous owner had started, but I liked some of the green bits, so chose to keep the torso and fists green.
Here he is with his brother, I matched the green / red scheme but changed a few panels to make them different, kind of makes me want to expand this army, they are mega cool models, but I really must concentrate on the unfinished models I already have! Still awaiting the Fire of Cryaxis so I can start using these in 40K proper.
That's all for now, hope you have plenty of miniatures to keep you busy this year! I certainly do. Cheers, Siph.

Reaver Titan - WIP #2

Hi One and All,

Another quick Reaver post to update on progress,

I've started with the legs, and aimed to get the Reaver in a slight 'striding with purpose' pose, with one foot stood on the Rhino, the other aimed to be slightly up, as if walking forward. The hope is by spreading the weight of the body across the legs that should prevent any falls.
Each leg/knee/hip joint was pinned and then fixed using JB Plastic Weld, a two part epoxy resin, mega strong! Rubber bands were used to secure the joints in place as it set.
The plan will be to drill additional pins through the pelvis section into the hip ball to add strength to secure the model, - I intend to have the hip/body section magnetised, thus there will be a lot of force on this joint when the two are 'pulled' apart.

Thanks for looking!

WeeMen 2017 Hobby Goals - Not Resolutions Honest...

Hello Readers, So a somewhat belated Hobby Resolutions type post from us at WeeMen. We don't really do the Resolution type thing as that is usually the path to disappointment and the dark side. But, some hobby goals to focus our HB disease can't hurt - "Hobby Butterfly" and here are a few photos to show the severity of Siph's hobby to-do piles, blessed huge piles... a serious plastic and resin krak habit... I am very fortunate to have really ;) I know many hobbyists would love to be in this situation, I am very fortunate - but I work hard and have disposable income - its better than p*ssing it up the wall on beer.
This is under the games table - so 3 Knights, a Chapterhouse extended StormRaven, BatC boxset, FW kits - Caestus Assault Ram, StormEagle, Demios Predator, Land Raider Spartan among other things...
Ah, the Necron to-do pile
And a Space Marine pile...
And a drawer full of goodies... what could that be on top with a key?? Not something i'm gonna attempt, but awesome all the same! Any guesses?
And under the hobby desk... yes a Warlord, more Tau, Necrons, Genestealer Cult and Space Marines...
The hobby desk itself, I'm trying to clear that first, a Ghost Ark currently under construction, lots of SM Devastators and some Tau Stealth Suits and lots of Limited Edition blister packs, one under construction too...
Oh, and a Fellblade I bought on release at Gamesday! Still loafing... Lord Halfpenny had to wait for his another six months but is further ahead on construction of his UM version.

So, to the meat of the post. My hobby goal - to crack some of this in 2017 rather than buy lots of new shiny toys. I will still buy the splash release limited editions and painting supplies etc, but I will 'try' to limit my spending in 2017. A goal, not a finite resolution.

Lord Halfpenny has started his hobby goals, posting on the blog more regularly (four posts in 2016) and doing the FW Reaver Titan he bought on first release, FW Reaver Number 11; re-base his Ultramarines to new 32mm bases; finish off his vehicles and minis using transfers; finish 2nd Company Ultramarines(!); complete some Terrain; finish his Imperial Knights and have more actual Battles!

6thDegree has more modest goals, start painting again, get his mojo back; and if that happens paint the Decimator; Perturabo; his 2nd Warhound Titan; some 30k Characters and an Alien 1:1 scale Face Hugger (not strictly 40K but worthy of a post here!)

How are you all managing your plastic krak and resin addictions? Do you have a bad case of the hobby to-do piles? If so, send me a link to the photo evidence and i'll include here too :)

Here is to a productive hobby 2017 to all of you. I wish you well.

Hello! thanks for popping by, another week, another post..
Another real quick post, The torso and pelvis has been magnatised to allow the model to be taken appart for transportation and storage.
I've had to bore into the model to get the magnets in postion - the fit isn't too bad, the only 'issue' is that there is a slight gap at the rear of the model. This shouldn't be an issue though as the torso and body section will prevent this being visible.
Thanks again!

Mechanicum Force So Far - Jan 2017

So following the completion of the last of my Mechanicum models, I thought a nice shot of the force so far, can't wait to use them on the battlefield.
So, two Thanatar Siege Automaton with Hellex Plasma Mortars, two Castellax Battle-Automata with Mauler Boltcannons, three Castellax with Power Blades and Multi-Meltas and three Vorax Battle-Automata with Rotor Cannons and Lightning Guns. Great stuff, awesome sculpts. I'll no doubt add some units in the future, especially when I can use them in 40K with the release of the fabled Fire of Cryaxis 40K Mechanicum rules...

Hello!

I'm slowly working through the model, next up the torso!
I've pinned all the rear potion and shoulder mounts to the body, however these aren't glued in yet- I think it'll be easier to have these parts as seperate pieces for painting.
Each part has been pinned in several places, with the shoulders having 4 pins each. I've angled these to hopefully prevent the weight of the shoulders pulling away from the body. There is a slight gap with the rear portion, this will be filled with green stuff, if needed
And here is the picture of the Reaver so far!

Relictors Limited Edition Terminator Chaplains - Mine and Charity Giveaway Winner Nick

Well folks, thanks for dropping by, something quite special today, two Limited Edition WHW Terminator Chaplains! Firstly mine, its taken me a fair while doing bits and pieces and refining my golds, and next up...
This is Nick Thrower's Terminator Chaplain. Check out his blog where his Dusk Knights Chapter marines live, The Burning Eye a great blog and a nice chap I've met before at BlogWars friendly tournament.  The lovely weathered cloak is what first caught my eye, blue to fit in with the Dusk Knights colour scheme. A great job, I got the photo through whilst doing mine so it gave me plenty of ideas and inspiration. Nick took no time at all to get his finished, he is a speedy painter!

Nick won this during my charity giveaway late last year, drawn on Christmas day, the giveaway raised a nice tidy sum for Cancer Research and his donation won him this through a random number giveaway, well deserved. Thank-you to all the donations received.

Well, when he received his Chaplain through the post he suggested we paint them up together and post at the same time which I thought was a great idea, so after some time waiting for me to catch up, here they are. They both look great imho. Maybe they'll meet each other across the battlefield one day, either at WHW or maybe Alex's Double Trouble this summer.
So,what did I do with mine. I raised the base slightly using a bit of hardboard, befitting of his status as a Limited Edition character. His flowing robes flow better in the wind up there!
This sculpt has so much bling, I wanted the cloak plain and the Storm Bolter casing dark, with a little gold decoration.  The power cables are green to match my Relictor Terminators and provide a spot of colour and match the green laurels on the shoulder pads.
I was quite pleased with the shading on the cloak, I used Dheneb Stone as a base coat, washed in recesses with Agrax Earthshade and Sepia all over, with highlights of the original Dheneb Stone, as with other Relictor characters, I did the inside of the cloak a rich red.
I followed the Warhammer TV guide on painting Custodes for practice before I attempt my Custodes, but this model gave me the perfect practice, Retributor Gold, Flesh Wash, Auric Armour Gold and Liberator Gold highlight. What a wonderful colour Liberator Gold is! Usually I give a final highlight of Runefang Steel on my Golds, but with Liberator Gold I felt it unnecessary.
There was so much detail on this sculpt, a wonderful mini if you are lucky enough to get hold of one!
Here is a shot with my other Terminator Chaplain, two great sculpts I reckon. Here you can see the loads of detail here on the front piece of the mini - if you are painting up one, I really recommend doing it in sub assemblies so you can get to both sides of this bit and the legs and inside of cloak.
And yes, I like Chaplain models, the religious fervor of the Emperor encased in ceramite! Thanks for dropping by. Siph

Time for something a little different WIP

Hi, one and all,

I thought I'd post a few pics of my heavy support units for my Ultramarines- in the form of a Typhon, a Spartan and a Fellblade!
I really like the look of the Typhon - looking how I feel the vindicator should look, menacing with a huge weapon on the front. I've added the lascannons as sponson options to have some extra punch for dealing with tanks. To finish I need to add transfers, as well as honours and purity seals.
Next up the Spartan, another great looking tank, and rules wise is pretty good on the 40K battlefield. Like the Typhon I need to add honours to the tank, and transfers.

I'm looking at adding a touch of white to the vehicles - I've started adding white as a way of breaking up the blue, (see the Fellblade below) which I've also done for other models, including dreadnoughts and flyer's and really like the results.
The Fellblade I think has benefited with the addition of the white to break up the blue colour, again I'll be adding transfers and honours to the vehicle. I opted to paint the marines as veterans with white trim and helmets which works well with the additional white portion of the turret.  I'm also looking to further additions of weathering to the tracks and armour to all 3 tanks.
Thanks for looking... (more Reaver updates next week... :)

Squaduary - February the month to get my RTB01 Done

For those who might be wondering what Squaduary is, its all about building and painting a squad in February and is a hobby related event being run by Stepping Between Games. The goal of the first week is to build your squad.
So I started a little ahead of some participants as I had painted 2 members of the squad already, seen here. As Thousandeyes says, there is no hard and fast rules, its a fun hobby motivation type thing designed to get those loafing minis done - right up my street on this year of cracking the great plastic and resin to-do pile!
As you can see the size difference is not too bad, the 32mm bases means they are beefed up a bit, and rule of cool wise, they will always be welcome additions on the battlefield!
Here are the rest of the squad, minus the specialist weapon carrier who is getting his Spellcrow Grav Gun fitted by the Artificers... should have these done for Squaduary.

Cheers, Siph.

Alternative Sisters Of Battle - DreamForge Valkir and Statuesque Heads

Hello Readers, with the release of Imperial Agents Codex and no sign of plastic Sisters beyond Saint Celestine, I fancied some Sisters of Battle for myself. I bought two GW Immolators, Canoness Veridyan and a bunch of Dreamforge Games Eisenkern Valkir Heavy Troopers and some Statuesque Miniatures Heroic Scale Female Heads. Here is the result of the test scheme.
I'll be arming them all with GW weapons, Bolters from Betrayal at Calth etc to keep the GW vibe, but I love the look of my first Sister, I wish GW would re-design and put out plastic Sisters along these lines, Militaristic rather than boob-armour fetish troops...
The armour is simply Eshin Grey over Black basecoat weathered with a little Leadblecher; with Mephiston Red cloth highlighted Evil Sunz Scarlet. and some gold details - Gehennas Gold highlighted Auric Armour Gold. Simple to replicate.
The biggest joy of the Imperial Agents Codex is I can satisfy my hobby butterfly with various different squads etc without having to commit to an entire new army - so 25 Sisters, a Canoness and two Immolators will scratch my itch for Nuns with Guns. I can field alongside Inquisitor Coteaz and the few Grey Knights I have.

Reaver Titan WIP #5 - Laser Blaster

Hi Everyone, thanks for dropping by!

Reaver post number 5- moving on from the legs and body, I've start work on the weapon arms. First up the Laser Blaster 3 Strength D blasts - Yes Please!

I wanted to be able to change weapons, as I'd like to have the options to swap out the configuration depending upon what I'm facing. I think the Laser Blaster will be one that is used often, however, I still like the ability to swap them out. I decided to go for a nut and screw solution, rather than magnets. I felt it was the simpler option than cutting the shoulder joint to position the magnet.
First think I did was to construct the weapon, then once I was happy with the direction it was to be pointing in- having the Reaver 'dry' fitted together, (leaning against the wall to prevent it falling!) and holding the gun until I was happy with the position- the next step was to mark on the gun/shoulder the point so that I knew how to position the weapon/.shoulder when it came to glue it, but also I marked the ball of the shoulder going through the shoulder support so that I knew where to drill the screw.
With this point I then put the shoulder joint into a vice and bore a hole for the screw to sit in snugly. Once I'd got a hole in the ball- I then proceeded to fill the hole half way with JB weld- then i pushed the screw into the hole- leaving it for 24 hours to set.

Below are a couple of images of the screw going into the shoulder support- and then secured into place with the nut and washer. I used a washer as I plan to magnetise the shoulder guard to secure it into place.

The shoulder guard had to have a hole drilled out to go over the nut, you can see in the pictures its a good fit now.

Which weapon will be next? come back next week to see! I'll post a pick with both weapons in position.

Thanks for swinging by!

Squaduary - Progress with RTB01 Tactical Squad

Hello Readers, I am continuing the progress of the RTB01 Tactical Squad I have pledged to get complete during February, in the Squaduary Challenge. Two more done, 6 more to go.
For those who might be wondering what Squaduary is, its all about building and painting a squad in February and is a hobby related event being run by Stepping Between Games. A great way to get motivated to paint some of those miniatures lurking in the cupboard of doom To-Do pile.
Here is the squad so far, finished the next two members of the squad now, both with a little character. The Grav Gun wielding RTB01 (I know! Awesome huh?) is armed with an alternative Gravity Gun from the 3rd Party company Spellcrow. Official Grav Guns are going for about £6 each on ebay, for about that, you can get 4! (5.80 Euro plus PnP depending if you live on this side of the pond...).

The other mini I completed this week was the Sergeant, a Power Fist wielding Veteran with a FW Bolt Pistol from the SM Character Upgrade set. The Power Fist is the original RTB01 set. The banner is made from an old metal pole (I think a SW Character) from by bitz box and a banner type bit I think from the Black Templars Vehicle Upgrade set.

Mechanicum Scyllax Guardian-Automata Covenant

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. Well, it seems I wasn't quite done with the Mechanicum units just yet, I forgot I had these... the Scyllax Guardian-Automata Covenant. I bought these ages ago with the view of using them as SM Close Combat Servitors, however now I have a Mechanicum force and hopefully GW will release the 40K rules for these, I may just use them as Scyllax.
In 30K these are 2A, plus one for Enhanced Array, so 3A, 4A on the charge, S4 T5 Automata which have Rad Furnaces reducing the enemy to -1 Toughness, close combat bodyguard guardians. The attack is only AP5, but the attacks can be swapped out for a 'dismemberment' attack instead, so that hits at S7 AP2 at Initiative 1 instead. They are also relentless and have two Wounds - they can be outfitted with ranged weapons and some heavy ones too. I kept them CC orientated.
The squad size can be increased to 16 and they can have a Triaros Armoured Conveyor as a dedicated transport.
I quite like the slug-like nature of these and I painted a slime/oil trail behind them. They will make cool CCW Servitors and hopefully a Mechanicum unit in the future. Only one more unit left for the Mechanicum forces I have, I also forgot I had a squad of jump-pack Ursarax I picked up at Gamesday (WarhammerFest), nasty buggers, Lightning Claw or Power Fist wielding 3W Jump-Pack nastiness.

Thanks for reading, cheers, Siph.

Reaver Titan - WIP #6 - Gatling Blaster

 Hi, Thanks for dropping by!

I'm making steady progress with the build, this time the left arm is ready for painting - the Gatling Blaster! I've been on the receiving end of Siph's Gatling Blaster, its great for taking out anything MEQ with AP3, as well as light/medium armoured tanks.
As the Laser Blaster, I've positioned a screw into the shoulder joint to act as the method to change the load out of the weapons. For this I used a drill to bore into the ball joint, and then glue the screw into place with JB weld.

Below is a comparison of the two weapons side by side, some serious fire power there!
And then two comparison shots next to a Razorback and Sternguard Space Marine.
The big reveal moment, here is where I'm at, the arms attached with the pauldrons in place, again the Sternguard and razorback are there for a size comparison!
It was asked in a previous post if I was going to sink the washers into place- I've had a look at this
an option, and have (at the moment) opted not to, I feel the shape of the pauldron hides the washer
  well.
Thanks for looking! Next post.. more comparisons.
